Welcome back! In this post, I will be exploring some of the top independent South East Asian style restaurants in Glasgow. Whether you’re looking for some tasty Thai dishes or some delicious Vietnamese cuisine, this post provides some tried and tested options for all.
Ting Thai Caravan serves up unique South East Asian street food on West Nile Street, in the heart of Glasgow’s city centre. This causal eatery is always busy, but even with a no reservations policy, a table is usually guaranteed. The restaurant is decorated in a way which is simple, yet still has a cosy and warm feel. The eatery is filled with wooden tables and stools, and funky music always plays.
The food is definitely the standout here! Ting Thai is the perfect spot for a quick lunch from the ‘Sun Up Menu’ or a hearty dinner from the ‘Sun Down Menu’. With a wide selection of rice, noodle and curry dishes, there’s always something new to try. Their Pad Thai is one of the best, and the Thai prawn crackers are an essential for the table!
As for drinks, the cocktails
are more limited, but the flavours combinations are unique and delicious. The Lychee Negroni & Mekhong Sour, are both a must try! If you’re in the market for something softer, the Thai Juice is a great option, made up of Thai iced tea, lychee, ginger & coconut.
Hanoi Bike Shop is a Vietnamese Canteen situated in the west end of Glasgow, on Ruthven Lane. The restaurant has a vibrant feel, with different coloured lights hanging from the ceiling and every chair, table, and wall painted in bright hues.
The food on offer consists of homemade tofu and pot & grill dishes, as well as a wide selection of side orders. Although, the main attraction here is the build your own ‘Pho’ dishes, where you can choose to include chicken, beef or seafood, and then choose to add sides & spice levels to your liking.
These vibrant restaurants offer a flavour of South East Asia, at an affordable price, in the heart of Glasgow.
