Best Mediterranean Restaurants - Glasgow
Paesano Pizza has quickly become a staple Glasgow eatery in the heart of the city centre. The restaurant which opened in 2015, simply serves fresh Neapolitan pizza. Paesano is incredibly popular amongst Glasgow’s foodies, due to its use of authentic recipes and fresh ingredients.
The restaurant has found success in Glasgow by creating a service concept which is unique to the city, yet still feels familiar. Paesano is somewhere I’ve never seen empty, the restaurant is walk-in only, so you can expect to wait a while for a table. Once inside, the pace of service quickly changes, with food and drink orders taken almost immediately.
The menu is incredibly simple with pizza options numbered 1-10. The pizzas are made fresh to order and served almost instantly. For my picky eaters out there, number 2 is the way to go, but with weekly specials there is always something new to try!
Sugo Pasta opened in 2019, under the same owners as Paesano. This has brought the same iconic service concept to Glasgow, but with fresh handmade pasta. Sugo is located on Mitchell Street and serves up delicious pasta daily, in a bustling open space with over 200 tables.
Sugo has 10 staple pasta dishes on its menu, with specials that change regularly, keeping you coming back for more. Each pasta dish belongs to a different Italian region, bringing together unique tastes from all over the country. The side orders are the perfect pairing for your pasta, most notably the ‘Panzanella’ salad, and a warm EVO sourdough is a necessity! To finish, Sugo's soft serve ice cream never goes a miss
Halloumi is an authentic Greek restaurant in amongst Glasgow’s bustling metropolitan atmosphere. The restaurant, which is situated on Hope Street has an intimate and cosy feel, with incredibly welcoming staff.
This menu involves meze style small plates, so is the perfect option whether you’re in the market for some nibbles or a hearty feast! The food is affordable, yet still has a traditional feel due to the fresh and zesty flavours on offer. The gyros flatbreads are a classic, with essential Greek flavours all wrapped into one. With the cocktails, named after Greek Gods, acting as the perfect pairing!
It’s safe to say, these affordable Mediterranean restaurants are foodie favourites, nestled in the heart of Glasgow’s city centre.
